Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher during the January transfer window and the Blues, wish to bring in Amadou Onana as the replacement, as per Express Sport.

The Spurs manager is eager to add Gallagher to his squad and if the fee is right then the Blues are ready to cash in on him. Poch, however, wants to bring in a replacement this month itself and Everton’s Amadou Onana is someone who’s being preferred.

The Toffees had paid £33 million to sign him from Lille and in the one-and-a-half seasons he’s been with Everton, the central midfielder has been one of their most consistent performers.

Both Newcastle United and Arsenal want to sign the 22-year-old but things are about to get really interesting with Chelsea’s entry in this transfer race.

Onana’s contract at the Goodison expires in 2027 which is why Everton are demanding around £60 million for the midfielder. According to some experts, Amadou Onana is happy with life at the club but with so many big clubs interested in him, Everton will not want to lose the opportunity to bag a major transfer fee.

Newcastle United and even Arsenal will have to think twice before spending so much money during the middle of the season but Chelsea don’t have that problem. Both the Magpies and the Gunners need midfield reinforcements for the second half of the season but spending £60-odd million on a single player will be a real challenge for them.

If the Blues can bag in a decent enough fee from Gallagher’s sale to Tottenham they won’t have any issues in paying £55-60 million for midfielder Amadou Onana.

Everton will be more than happy to let Amadou Onana join Chelsea, however, the midfielder will be a bit sceptical about joining the Stamford Bridge outfit because even after Gallagher’s exit, Poch will still have Caicedo, Lavia and Enzo Fernandez left in his squad so constant game time will be a real challenge. He’s started 16 Premier League games for Everton this season but at the Bridge, there’s no way he will be a guaranteed starter.
