According to a report by RAC1, the top management at Barcelona wants Jurgen Klopp to replace Xavi next season.

Just days after Jurgen Klopp announced that he is going to leave Liverpool at the end of this season and now, Barca manager Xavi has also decided to walk in the same direction.

After his team’s dramatic loss to Villarreal on Saturday, Xavi very emotionally announced that he is going to step down from the helm at the end of this campaign.

“Before you ask me the pertinent questions, I want to announce that from June 30 I will not continue as Barca coach,” Xavi told the press.

“We’ve been talking about it with Laporta and with the sporting area, and as a Culer I think the club needs a change of dynamic.”

Xavi was already living on borrowed time and now that he is stepping down, the top bosses at Barcelona reportedly wish to bring in Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp has made it clear that he is not going to manage another Premier League club in his lifetime plus he intends to take a break from management for one year. However, if a team like Barcelona come calling then he could very easily ditch his year-long break and return to action next summer itself.

The German has been at Anfield since 2015 and in these nine years, he has managed 464 games in all competitions and he has a PPM of 2.07. He might have won just one EPL title and one UCL in these nine years but most importantly, he has changed the atmosphere and culture at the club and that’s something that Barcelona need right now.

The Catalans are 10 points behind the league leaders this season and the way they have been playing, there’s a big possibility they could miss out on Champions League football next campaign. The Xavi experiment has been a massive failure so the Barca management will have to bring in someone who can instil in a proper footballing culture at Camp Nou.

As per some experts, Bologna’s Thiago Motta has been one of the main candidates to replace Xavi but the 41-year-old’s appointment will be a major gamble because this season, Bologna are sitting seventh on the Ligue 1 table with just eight wins against their name.

Jurgen Klopp will be flooded with offers in the upcoming months but he is the type of manager who always wants to take up a project from scratch and with the mess that Barcelona are in right now, it will be the ultimate rebuild job for the German.
