Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is out of contract at the club this summer and according to a report by the Mail, the defender has just rejected a new offer.

On Friday, the Mail had claimed that the Blues have failed to convince Rudiger to sign a new contract despite offering him a substantial hike.

This was great news for all the Manchester United fans since the Red Devils were linked with Antonio Rudiger in January and as per many experts, Ralf Rangnick is will once again try to sign him as a free agent at the end of this campaign.

Rangnick believes Harry Maguire is not fit enough to partner Raphael Varane which is why the German is scouting a new centre-back and since Antonio Rudiger has just rejected a new contract, the 28-year-old will be the ideal signing.

The headline of this report on Twitter has caused a lot of stir with many people spinning it as per their liking. This is why Sami Mokbel, the one who wrote this piece, has had to come out and clear the air.

He wrote on Twitter that the talks have far from collapsed since Antonio Rudiger is very much open to committing his future to Chelsea and is willing to sign a new deal if the terms are right.

Mokbel wrote: “Headline is misleading. Talks have centred around an offer of closer to £200k a week (the offer isn’t £200k a week). Importantly, AR is fully open to staying and club remain open to finding a compromise.”

This basically means the Blues will now have to come up with a revised offer and at the same time, Manchester United are not even close to landing the centre-back.

United will obviously be keeping tabs on this whole situation but we doubt if the defender will want to move out after having such a successful time under Tuchel.

Antonio Rudiger recently spoke very highly of his manager so if the management can just put forward favourable terms, the 28-year-old will happily put pen on paper to a new contract.
