Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is on Arsenal’s shortlist alongside Viktor Gyokeres, claims Football Insider.

Viktor Gyokeres is the Gunners’ number one target for the summer window but the Sporting CP forward has a £85 million release clause which could make things a bit complicated for Arsenal.

However, should they miss out on the goal-scoring sensation then Mikel Arteta and Edu will shift their focus to Alexander Isak who’s been in fine form for the Magpies.

Newcastle United have spent heavily in recent transfer windows and now they are desperate to avoid a financial fair play breach which is why many experts believe that the club will have to sell some important players at the end of this season.

Can Alexander Isak turn out to be a good signing for Arsenal?

Alexander Isak has been previously linked with the Gunners as they have tried to sign him just before his move to Newcastle United.

Since joining Newcastle, the 24-year-old has done fairly well and this season, he has scored 12 goals in 20 Premier League appearances for the club. This campaign, he has an xG of 10.9 and his 12 league goals have come from only 24 shots on target.

On paper, he can very ideally slot into the Arsenal frontline alongside Bukayo Saka and Martinelli but the Gunners will have to shell out a decent amount if they want to sign him in the summer.

£85 million for Viktor Gyokeres seems a fair ask because he’s scored 36 and assisted 13 goals in 39 games for Sporting CP this campaign.

Isak is nowhere close to these stats but his contract with Newcastle United expires in 2028 and his market value is almost £60 million which means the Magpies will demand around £70-75 million to sell him.

Paying such a steep fee for someone who has 26 goals in two seasons does not look like a pretty deal.
