Chelsea and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes but according to a report in Spanish outlet Fichajes, La Liga giants Real Madrid have also registered an interest in the midfielder.

Bruno Guimaraes has been one of the success stories for the Magpies during the Eddie Howe regime and in 71 games for the club, the defensive midfielder has scored and assisted 20 goals. He joined Newcastle in 2022 but his impact was such that the club offered him a new and improved deal after just one year.

His impactful performances have obviously caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe and PSG had even tried to land him during the January transfer window. Chelsea and Liverpool are supposed to make a formal move for the Brazilian at the end of this season but if Real Madrid are seriously interested in him then Bruno Guimaraes could easily be tempted to head to Spain.

In a recent interview, Bruno Guimaraes stated that he is very happy with life at Newcastle United and wants to take the Tyneside outfit back into the Champions League.

He told The Chronicle: “I am enjoying it here a lot – I have never felt so loved at a club before. It is lovely how much the fans love me, I love them as well.

“But this season has been a mix of things for me. I want more wins and at least get the club back into Europe again.

“I know I have to keep going. It has been a different season for us, but we have had problems with injuries. Just crazy really.”

Guimaraes looks fully focused on helping the Magpies secure a top four finish in the Premier League but it’s very hard to see him staying at the club beyond the summer.

The midfielder’s new deal which he signed back in October 2023 has a £100 million release clause and because Newcastle United want to balance their books to avoid an FFP breach, they will be happy if one of the interested clubs is willing to trigger it.

Chelsea and Liverpool both have the finances to pay a premium for the midfielder but Real Madrid will have to pay just €60 million as a signing bonus to Kylian Mbappe meaning they can utilize their remaining transfer budget to pursue Guimaraes.

It is claimed that Madrid has been monitoring Bruno Guimaraes for some time, and Carlo Ancelotti sees the defensive midfielder as the long-term replacement for Luka Modric. After 14 years, Modric’s tenure at the Bernabeu is nearing its end, and Ancelotti believes Guimaraes can step into his shoes effectively.

The two EPL sides will not give up without a fight but not many players(especially a South American) can reject an offer from Real Madrid.
