For the longest period this season, Chelsea have been sitting pretty in the third spot on the Premier League table but now all of a sudden, their position is in danger.

The Blues suffered a 1-0 loss to Everton on Sunday and at the same, Arsenal and Spurs have both managed to pick up wins. These assortments of results mean the two North London sides are suddenly breathing down Chelsea’s neck.

Sunday’s defeat means Arsenal are just three points away from the third spot while Spurs are five points behind Chelsea and now, Thomas Tuchel has also sounded the alarm bells in terms of a catastrophe.

“Of course, it was always like this,” he told reporters when asked if Chelsea need to sweat it out for the remainder of the campaign.

“I said it many weeks ago that I didn’t ever feel safe. We are never safe. By the way, if we are in a race for top one, top two, or top four, no matter what the race, the last four games to only have four points will never be enough, no matter which race we are in.

“We have to take care of ourselves. At the moment we don’t get the points when we play well and deserve more and we lose when we play okay, this is a bad mixture.”

Will Chelsea fall out of the top four in the next few weeks?

Arsenal’s win on Sunday means the Gunners have a very pragmatic chance of catching up with the Stamford Bridge outfit but we don’t think Tuchel’s side will finish below the fourth spot.

Chelsea’s remaining matches are very much winnable and at least on paper, Leicester are the only side who can trouble them. Obviously, anything can go wrong in a particular matchday but we don’t think this Chelsea side are one to crumble under pressure.

Also, there’s still a London Derby left to play and that match will work massively in favour of the Blues. No matter what the result, Chelsea are going to benefit from that game.

If Spurs end up losing the NLD then Arsenal will have a great opportunity to topple Tuchel’s team off the third spot but at the same time, Tottenham’s push for a UCL spot will well and truly be over.
