PSG and Liverpool are interested in signing Chelsea’s 20-year-old defender Levi Colwill, according to a report in the Evening Standard.

Colwill shone on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion last season and this season, he’s been a mainstay at Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino. So far, he’s played in 22 Premier League games out of which 19 have been starts.

In the 1719 minutes of league football he’s played this campaign, the central defender has made 2 tackles per game and he’s been dribbled past less than 0.5 times. He’s also made 1.2 interceptions and 2.6 clearances every game. The youngster has also chipped in with one goal and one assist.

Colwill has come up through the ranks in the Blues academy and his current market valuation is €55 million. His contract with the club expires in 2022 but Chelsea will have to sell several players in the summer and the suitors feel, that Levi Colwill is going to be one of them.

Chelsea spent heavily last summer and to avoid a FFP breach the club will have to offload players and balance their books. Armando Broja, Ian Maatsen, Malang Sarr, Gallagher & Trevoh Chalobah are likely to be sold at the end of this season but as per the rumours, Pochettino is not interested in parting ways with Levi Colwill.

Chelsea feel they will be able to avoid any penalties by selling some unwanted players but Colwill isn’t on that list.

Players like Chalobah and Broja have made zero impact this season so they will be shown the door but Colwill has been wonderful and the youngster is shaping up to be a future star at the club.

Thiago Silva’s time at the club is coming to an end very soon and Levi Colwill is currently pushing to replace the Brazilian permanently.

Liverpool and PSG will obviously knock on Chelsea’s doors but we think the Blues have everything planned to avoid any financial punishments or points deductions.

The London outfit spent around €468 million on new player signings last summer and they had a negative spend of around €200 million. This basically means Chelsea will have to generate the same amount to avoid any punishments but they should be able to gather some major funds by selling players like Chalobah, Armando Broja and possibly Conor Gallagher.

Honestly speaking, PSG and even Liverpool will be ready to spend anywhere between €80-90 million to sign Levi Colwill but he’s just 20 years old and is top talent so Pochettino will not want to lose him even if that means offloading players like Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella.
