Claudio Bravo to replace Bernd Leno

Celtic FC manager Neil Lennon wants to keep Fraser Forster at the club for one more season but if he fails, the Bhoys might try and shift their focus to Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo – as per some rumours.

Forster is currently on loan from Southampton and this season he’s kept 14 clean sheets in 28 Premiership matches for the SPFL side. But there are fears that the Saints might not let the 32-year-old remain in Scotland beyond the summer.

And if Forster does head back to the Premier League, Lennon should try and sign Claudio Bravo according to the comments of Noel Whelan.

Whelan said, as per Football Insider: “They are looking at experienced goalkeepers.

“Neil Lennon is looking for somebody that has got a wealth of experience. They want somebody that knows the game and knows how to command the back four.

“You have got to have a goalkeeper you can trust. It gives confidence to the back four. They need to know they have got somebody secure in between the sticks who is talking all the time – that comes with experience.

“You do not look any further than Claudio Bravo. He has immense experience.”

Will Claudio Bravo choose a move to Celtic?

Claudio Bravo joined Manchester City in 2016 from FC Barcelona, following Pep Guardiola to the club. But his time in England has been a complete failure and this season, he’s played in only four Premier League games for the Citizens.

The 37-year-old is set to be a free agent at the end of the summer meaning Manchester City will have no say in this transfer.

But what remains to be seen is whether the keeper will want to spend the final phase of his professional career in Scotland.

Also, this season, Bravo is currently earning £80,000-per-week in the form of wages at the Etihad meaning he will have to take a massive pay-cut if he wishes to play for Celtic next season.

Thankfully, Claudio Bravo is not the only player who’s on Celtic’s radar since as per reports, the Bhoys are also keeping tabs on Watford keeper Ben Foster and Burnley’s Joe Hart.
