According to a report by Football Insider, Darwin Nunez should be fit by the time Liverpool welcome Brighton right after the international break.

The Reds were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United and Nunez played the full 120 minutes of that game. It was in this 3-4 defeat that the forward picked up a muscle injury.

Darwin Nunez had to withdraw from the Uruguayan squad due to this injury but as per the reports, his knock is not serious and his withdrawal from the current international break was just a precaution. He should be fit by the end of this month, just in time for the Seagulls game.

The South American took time to settle down at Anfield after his move from Benfica but this season, the 24-year-old has been in top form. He has an xG of 13.58 and has scored 10 goals in 26 Premier League appearances, along with 7 assists.

The loss to Man United has been a major blow for Liverpool because not only were they knocked out of the FA Cup but Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez had all picked up injuries.

The manager said[h/t Sports Mole]: “Lucho [Diaz] felt his groin, Darwin hamstring. Cody twisted his ankle. They play again in four or five days, it’s crazy.

“Hopefully we will finish the season in style. I really feel for our people. Now the boys go on international duty, we hope they come back healthy.”

At least Nunez’s injury is not serious and this is a major boost for Klopp because Liverpool have a very tough round of fixtures coming up. After the Brighton game, they play Sheffield United and then they face Man United again, this time in the EPL.

Cody Gakpo is the backup striker for Liverpool this season but the Netherlands international has been really poor, scoring just five times in 26 appearances.

If Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz had both missed the Brighton game then it would have been a big headache for Jurgen Klopp because Diogo Jota is also out with a knee injury.
