Man United take on AC Milan in the Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday and if Antonio Cassano’s words are anything to go by then the Premier League side will need to give special attention to midfilder Frank Kessie.

The former Serie A forward has labeled the 24-year-old as the ‘soul of AC Milan’ in his recent interview while singing praises of the Ivorian international ahead of the first leg at Old Trafford.

Cassano said on Bobo TV (via MilanLive): “I want Kessie in my team, he scores, he assists, he has personality, he has quality, he doesn’t lose the ball, he is intelligent.

“I’m watching him carefully, against Roma he was devastating. He reminds me of the Yaya Touré of the best times. He is a different player, but in terms of impact. He is holding Milan’s midfield alone.

“He is the soul of AC Milan, more than Ibra and Romagnoli. For a year and two months he has been doing shocking things.”

Frank Kessie has played 2173 minutes of football across 25 Serie A games this season and he’s one of the first names on the AC Milan teamsheet.

The defensive midfielder will start on Thursday also and players like Fred and McTominay will surely have their hands full in dealing with the 24-year-old.

Frank Kessie is great with the ball at his feet but according to Whoscored, the player is not the best when it comes to winning balls in the air and that’s the exact same route the Man United players might take to bypass the middle of the pitch.

AC Milan have a long injury list so players like Maguire and Lindelof can take the gamble of launching the ball high in the hopes that the attackers can outmuscle people like Frank Kessie.
