Man United are planning a major overhaul of their squad during the summer and as per reports, the Red Devils are ready to sell both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

The new minority owners have the responsibility to rebuild the squad and their main focus will be to get rid of all the deadwood before they start bringing in the new players at the end of the season.

As per the latest rumours, the Man United management are eyeing several new centre-back options which is why they are willing to cash in on Maguire and Lindelof if the right offer comes in.

Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs de Ligt are some of the defenders who are on Manchester United’s radar for the summer transfer window and Ten Hag is desperate to bring in another ball-playing central defender alongside Lisandro Martinez.

Victor Lindelof has always been the backup defender so letting him go is understandable but Harry Maguire has turned a corner this season and it will be a big gamble to sell him.

Maguire was on the brink of an exit last summer with clubs like West Ham United interested in him but eventually, a transfer did not happen. Since then, the England international has started nine Premier League games with an average rating of 7.08 out of 10.

With injuries to Martinez and Varane, Harry Maguire has been pairing up with Jonny Evans in central defence and to be honest, these two have held up the fort pretty well.

The performances he’s given this season have been really solid however, if Man United can bring in someone like Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich then Ten Hag can afford to cash in on Harry Maguire.

Maguire and Lindelof’s contract expires in 2026 and 2025 respectively so Man United will be able to get a decent transfer fee from their sales. Varane is likely to leave in the summer while Evans’ contract will also expire and on top of that, if Harry Maguire and Lindelof leave then the United management will have to make sure they bring in at least two new centre-backs during the summer.
