Tottenham Hotspur will take on Manchester City in the FA Cup on Friday at home and midfielder James Maddison is expected to start this fourth-round tie.

The summer signing has been a revelation for Spurs this season but he’s been missing from action since he suffered an ankle injury against Chelsea in November.

However, James Maddison has returned to training with the first-team squad and as per his manager he is raring to go.

Ange has told the press: “Team news wise, everyone from the last game, has got through well. We gave them a few days off, which I think was good for them. And, yes, since the return ‘Madders’ is back training with the group, which is good. So he’s feeling good.”

This is a major boost for Tottenham because in his 11 Premier League starts for the club, James Maddison has scored three and assisted five goals and his absence left a major void in the creative department. However, now that he is back, Postecoglou will put him straight back into the No 10 role.

Maddison’s return has also come at the perfect time because Lo Celso is out injured with a minor strain while Bissouma and Pape Sarr are off to international duty.

Son is also with his national team while Sessegnon and Ben Davies won’t be fit in time to face Manchester City. Sessegnon will report back to training next week so he should be available at the start of next month.

The manager has updated: “We’re hoping Sess will re-join us next week if all goes well. Ben (Davies) also began training with the group so it’s good to get the numbers back up.”

Maddison’s creativity and vision were one of the main reasons why Tottenham were so clinical in attacks during the first half of the season and now that he is back, Postecoglou will be hoping he can pick up where he left off in early November.

Kevin de Bruyne returned to the first-team after a long injury lay-off and made an instant impact off the bench in City’s win over Newcastle and all the Spurs fans will be expecting a similar performance from James Maddison.
