Jorginho has massively fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea since the 2019-20 season resumed and so far he is yet to start for the Blues.

Lampard clearly favoured the Italian in the defensive midfielder’s role since the start of the season but over the past couple of matches, N’Golo Kante and Billy Gilmour have been playing in that same position. And all Jorginho has been doing is warming the benches for the London side.

But the playmaker has refused to fuel any sort of rumours and has made it clear that he will be ready to perform as soon as his manager calls him back to the starting line-up.

‘I just have to stay focused on when the teams need me,’ said Jorginho after the win vs Palace, as reported.

‘There have been rumours but I haven’t heard anything, I am just focusing on finishing the season well with Chelsea and qualifying for the Champions League.’

So little game time has promoted many to believe that Jorginho will indeed be sold at the end of the current season but Frank Lampard has revealed that he is harbouring no such intentions.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Lampard said: “The two games Billy played before lockdown, against Liverpool – who are the best team in the world – and Everton, (he was) fantastic.

“He trains like that as well. So does Jorginho – they train really well.

“I’ve got to make difficult choices. It doesn’t mean anything about the future of Jorginho, Billy or anyone else. You saw the impact Jorginho had calming the team when he came on at the end. I know he can give us that.”

Sarri is really eager to reunite with his favourite player at Juventus and if Jorginho keeps starting on the bench then there’s every chance that the player could look to head back to Italy in the summer.
