Man United have made more than decent progress this season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the signing of Bruno Fernandes seems to have opened up a new dimension in the side.

The Old Trafford outfit are also being constantly linked with players like Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish and if these two players do arrive at the club then many people think Man United will be ready to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title next season.

But according to Dwight Yorke, his former side could take two or three more years before they are finally ready to compete for the domestic title.

“Well listen, Ole has given himself a chance,” Yorke told Stadium Astro, as per the Express.

“He had a really fantastic start at the beginning and then through the middle section he kind of struggled a little bit, but seems to have brought the energy back into the team.

“He’s brought in two good signings in [Odion] Ighalo and certainly Bruno seems to have revitalised them in so many aspects.

“But I do believe that United really, in terms of winning the Premier League again, we are probably a year or two out to say the least when you see the likes of Liverpool, the way they are playing at the moment, and certainly City is going to come back bigger and stronger next year.

“I think Chelsea is improving as well so I think the competition really is going to get tough in terms of who is going to win the Premier League next year.

“But certainly Liverpool set the benchmark this year and we are a long way behind them at the moment, so we have some catching up to do.

“But I would say probably between two to three years we expect to win the Premier League once again.”

Liverpool have managed to win the Premier League in an exceptional fashion and this is the biggest reason why we think even Jurgen Klopp will find it difficult to keep the same momentum next season as well.

We do agree with Yorke, but in part, simply cause even if Man United are not able to raise their game in time we are sure Liverpool’s form will dip in the 2020-21 season. And maybe this is the opportunity that Solskjaer and his boys need in order to challenge for the title next season.

But, at the same time, Man United will have to ensure that they are strong enough to fight off challenges from sides like Man City, Chelsea and possibly Spurs.
