Chelsea could miss as many as five first-team players vs Burnley: Does it make a difference to Tuchel?

Mason Mount Chelsea

Chelsea take on Burnley in the Premier League and Thomas Tuchel could be without as many as five key players on Saturday which could include Mason Mount.

The Blues are sitting at the top of the EPL table and they go into this weekend’s game as the clear favourites but these injury concerns could turn out to be a rotation concern for the manager.

Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner remain out with injuries and midfielder Mateo Kovacic is also out with a hamstring injury which he had picked up in training.

And to make matters worse, left-back Marcos Alonso had injured himself during the Malmo match in midweek so he will miss out.

‘There is no news for the match tomorrow for Romelu and Timo,’ said Tuchel at his pre-match press conference. ‘Both of them are out and Mateo is still out as well.

‘Unfortunately, Marcos Alonso injured himself in the very last minute during the Malmo match. He tried now to come for training but the stress is too high on the ankle, it’s nothing big but too painful at the moment so he will not be in the squad tomorrow.’

Will Mason Mount play against Burnley?

Mason Mount is another player who has remained on the sidelines for some time and the manager has now revealed that he picked up an infection because of his wisdom tooth.

While he has been named in the matchday squad but Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that the England international might not be fit enough to start against Burnley.

The return of Pulisic means the Chelsea boss will not miss Mason Mount but the longer he remains out of action, it will be a personal loss for the playmaker.

Christian Pulisic will ideally be starting in the more advanced role alongside Ziyech and Tuchel also has Hudson-Odoi as an option so the manager will not be worried about Mason Mount missing out, not at least against a team like Burnley.
