Mesut Ozil is yet to feature for Arsenal since the 2019-20 season resumed last month and with each passing day, it looks like the playmaker has no future at the club.

Mikel Arteta though has chosen not to talk about the future of Mesut Ozil in detail and all he explained was that he’s focusing on the collective effort of his squad rather than one single player.

When asked about the sale of Mesut Ozil after the loss to Aston Villa, Arteta said: “I don’t know. I try to make the best decisions for the team and the club.

“We played other games as well and the answer is not just a player, it is a collective of patterns that have to happen and we did really well in certain ways but the end product of the final ball wasn’t good enough and the last chance that we had hit the post. But this is football.”

Arteta might not be ready to talk about Mesut Ozil but pundit Ian Wright has made it clear that the playmaker has completely fallen out of favour at the club and that he might not play for the Gunners any more.

‘I think that he’s gone,’ Wright told Premier League Productions, via Metro.

‘It’s all about attitude. The thing is when you look at Dani Ceballos he had an attitude problem, Mikel turned him round and now he’s in the team. Matteo Guendouzi – they’re talking about him having a problem – he’s not in the team.

‘Mikel’s given people the opportunity to get into the team if their attitude is right but at the minute their attitude is not right.

‘Arsenal need him [Ozil] of course but I believe that he’s somebody that’s gone from Arsenal whether he stays or Mikel gets rid of him, we’re not going to see much of him.’

Mesut Ozil has featured in just 18 Premier League matches for Arsenal this season, this despite him being the highest earner at the club.

So clearly Arteta will try to offload him in the summer in order to free up a significant amount of his wage bill for the 2020-21 campaign.
