Chelsea already have a long list of injuries and now, the name of Mykhailo Mudryk has been added to it.

The winger has been slowly winning over Pochettino’s confidence but he has now sustained an injury in training and is going to miss Chelsea’s game against Luton Town on Friday night.

Mudryk joins Carney Chukwuemeka who’s just undergone surgery and will be out for a couple of weeks. However, Mudryk’s injury has been classified as a minor one which means the 22-year-old should be back in action next week.

“It is a shame for him (Mudryk), but it will only be a few days and is a minor problem,” Pochettino said, as quoted.

“It is a disappointment because for him to play 45 minutes against West Ham as he is a player we hope can start performing for us, but it is not a major problems.”

Mykhailo Mudryk becomes the ninth Chelsea player to pick up an injury and he along with Chukwuemeka missing the Luton Town clash will be a bit of a concern for the manager.

Chukwuemeka and Mudryk both prefer to play on the left-hand side and because Nkunku is also unavailable with an injury, someone like Raheem Sterling will have to play out on the left wing.

Mudryk has featured in both of Chelsea’s matches this season but he is yet to get a start under Poch. The way Chukwuemeka played against West Ham United, it looked like he would be the one that Pochettino would prefer to use on the left flank but now that he is out for a couple of weeks, Mudryk will be hoping his manager pushes him up the pecking order.

After the Luton game, Chelsea will take on AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup and if everything goes to plan then Mykhailo Mudryk will be available for this second-round tie.
