Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with clubs like Arsenal and Man United reportedly interested in him.

The 26-year-old has come up through the ranks at Atletico and over the past couple of seasons, the midfielder has been a key part of Diego Simeone’s side both in Spain as well in the Champions League.

This season he has been really stellar for the Madrid based outfit and was a key player when Atletico Madrid knocked out Liverpool of the Champions League a couple of weeks ago.

And as per reports, both Man United and Arsenal have now stepped up their interest in signing Thomas Partey with both clubs looking to make a move for him in the summer.

But it seems like Simeone has marked out Partey as one of his key players which is why the club are reportedly going to offer him a new and improved deal at the club.

Right now, his current deal expires in 2023 and he has a release clause of €50 million but as per reports, Atletico Madrid want to extend the deal until the summer of 2025 and raise the release clause to €100 million.

While the club are yet to table the offer but since the player has shown no tantrums they are confident that Thomas Partey will agree to the new offer, thereby committing his long-term future to the club.

Will Arsenal & Man United miss out on Thomas Partey?

Well for Man United this might not be a big blow since Scott McTominay has been really doing in the defensive midfield role and even Fred has been wonderful this season.

And once Paul Pogba returns back to action, Ole will have more or less a pretty solid central midfield.

But for Arsenal, this might be a big setback since Mikel Arteta has been eager to bring in a player who can play in the defensive midfield region since Matteo Guendouzi has been really poor this season.

And if Thomas Partey was to agree to the new deal before the transfer window begins then Arsenal will most certainly miss out on the 26-year-old.
