Is this 51Y/O going to snub a job in Germany to become the next Man United manager?

Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane has been heavily linked with the Bayern Munich job but according to the latest gossip, the Frenchman would prefer to take charge at Manchester United.

Bayern Munich are having a terrible season as they have already lost the league title to Bayer Leverkusen and the club’s management is trying hard to select a new manager with Thomas Tuchel set to exit the club at the end of this season.

Zidane has been out of work since 2021 but the ex-Madrid manager is going to return to action and most experts believe he will be the next Bayern Munich manager.

Manchester United, however, are also on the lookout for a replacement for Erik ten Hag because the Red Devils are struggling in the Premier League. United are currently 7th on the league table and if they miss out on Champions League football then the new INEOS owners will definitely sack ETH and Sir Jim has Zinedine Zidane on his wishlist.

Zidane had been previously linked with the Man United job but he famously turned it down because he was not fluent in English. Hopefully, that thing has changed because the reports are suggesting that Zizou is seriously considering a move to England, this time around.

As good as it may sound for the Manchester United fans Zinedine Zidane is just one step away from taking charge at Bayern. The 51-year-old is keeping tabs on Ten Hag’s situation in Manchester but the Red Devils will ideally want to wait until the end of the season before they make up their mind and there’s no way Zidane is going to wait that long.

Bayern’s director Max Eberl has also admitted that the club will announce their new manager soon and if something doesn’t go horribly wrong then it’s going to be the Frenchman.

‘We’re in very, very good shape and hope that we’ll get further there soon,’ Eberl told Sky Germany. ‘I’ve already said that we would ideally have a new coach at the end of April. But if it takes a little longer, then it takes a little longer.

‘I know that time is running out.

‘It is also our intention that we want to do it quickly, but we still want to do it as cleanly and as thoroughly as necessary. We are now very, very final and will hopefully be able to announce something soon.’

Erik ten Hag has had a difficult season with so many injuries but the Premier League is merciless and if United cannot retain their Champions League status then he’s going to be sacked, that’s for sure. A fifth-place finish might be enough to get back into the UCL next season but the Old Trafford outfit are currently 10 points away from that mark.

Zinedine Zidane would have been the ideal manager to replace the Dutchman with his vast experience in Europe and also at handling big-name players but this move is not likely to happen.

Maybe, Thomas Tuchel to Manchester United?
