Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been blamed many times for ruining the career of a lot of star players and Iker Casillas was undoubtedly one of the biggest names on that ill-fated list.
When Jose Mourinho was the manager at Real Madrid, Iker was still counted amongst the top goalkeepers in world football but sadly his reputation meant nothing to Jose Mourinho and the Spanish International was dropped to the bench towards the end of the 2012/13 season.
And from here began the downfall of the Real Madrid legend.
Casillas struggled for game time after Jose Mourinho dropped him to the bench and eventually, the shot-stopper moved out of the club in 2015 to join Porto under controversial circumstances.
And now former Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar has revealed a new dimension to the famous Mourinho-Casillas fued.
Brazil defeated Spain in the 2013 Confederations Cup final, where Cesar’s Brazil beat Casillas’ Spain 3-0.
And after the match, both the No 1’s swapped jerseys and Cesar carried on with Brazil’s celebrations.
After the formalities were completed on the pitch, Julio Cesar returned to the dressing room to see that Jose Mourinho had sent him a text and the Portuguese was clearly not happy with something.
Cesar told Brazilian TV channel SporTV: ‘When I got to the dressing room, I saw a message from Mourinho on my phone.
‘He had problems with Casillas at Real Madrid and the message was: “You’re crazy, he’s the one who should wear your shirt – not you with his!”
Cesar added: ‘Then he told me that I’d stop more shots with one arm than Casillas.’
