Chelsea are planning to raise additional funds in the summer which is why the management is now willing to get rid of Reece James and Conor Gallagher.

The Blues have spent crazily under their new owners but now, they are running the risk of an FFP breach and as per the experts, the club wants to raise an additional £100 million to balance their books.

Even last season, Reece James was considered one of the most important players in the Chelsea squad but constant injuries have hampered his progress. This season, the full-back has played only 391 minutes of football for his club and has featured in only 8 Premier League matches.

Reece James underwent surgery in December to repair his hamstring injury and the defender has not played since. Even Pochettino is unsure if he will play any further part this season or not.

“No, I don’t know[if he will play this season or not],” Pochettino recently told the press. “It’s difficult to say something because I don’t want you to go ‘but, oh, [you said this].’

“We will assess it week by week and we will see. We hope yes, we hope that he will be available for the end of the season.”

James has been a stellar performer for Chelsea whenever he’s played but the right-back is massively injury-prone and this campaign, he’s already missed over 30 games for the London outfit.

It’s hardly a surprise that Chelsea want to get rid of him but Reece James could be set for a major summer upgrade because Real Madrid are still interested in signing him as Perez wants to sign the England international as the long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Madrid have been linked with James for more than a year and now with Chelsea ready to offload him, the Los Blancos are likely to make an official move in the summer.

However, Real Madrid will have to be ready to pay a premium for the defender because he’s contracted with Chelsea until 2028 and his current market value is around €50 million.

Chelsea’s demand is still unknown but they can quote anywhere between €70-80 million for Reece James and even though this is a steep fee, Perez shouldn’t mind paying it.

Real Madrid are planning a defensive rehaul and they are currently focused on signing Alphonso Davies. Davies and Mbappe are their two main targets right now and once these deals go through, we are sure that the La Liga will make enquiries regarding Reece James.

James’s time at Chelsea is coming to an end but the Blues will be hoping that the right-back can get into England squad for the EUROs. Even though it’s highly unlikely if Reece James can somehow put up some good displays in the European Championships then the Premier League side can quote a premium price tag.
