Are Liverpool interested in Riyad Mahrez?

Yes and No.

Two very contrasting reporting have come out regarding the transfer of Riyad Mahrez to Liverpool and we are very confused – to say the least.

Firstly, beIN Sports journalist Mohammed Al-Wadahi claims that the Leicester City winger is already house hunting in Liverpool which means that the winger is moving closer to joining the Merseyside outfit during the January transfer window.

The beIN Sports journalist tweeted: “The news of the transfer to Liverpool is a very reliable source of much more than the player’s agent,

“He did not publish it until I received the green light from the same player who started looking for a house in Liverpool and was ready to move to Liverpool for a medical examination after he was told.”

But on the other hand, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports that Liverpool are not very keen to sign a replacement to Philippe Coutinho during the current month.

“My understanding is the club will look at the market and sees what’s available,” he told Sky Sports podcast Transfer Talk(as reported by the Daily Star).
“There won’t be a lot available to be honest and it’s a weakened position that Liverpool have got now.
“They’ve got the money but everybody knows that so I’m not sure they’re in a rush to get anybody as has been reported.
“Mahrez and Lemar are not targets for Liverpool. We’ll have to see what happens with (Naby) Keita first of all. I’d be surprised if they did (sign a replacement).”

Even though the deal for Riyad Mahrez looks to be in murky water but Balague’s claim that Liverpool are not interested in Thomas Lemar this transfer window is definitely good news for Arsenal.

The Gunners are set to lose Alexis Sanchez this month as Manchester City have upped their game to sign the Chilean International. And Arsene Wenger is interested in signing Thomas Lemar as a replacement to the Manchester bound forward.

Up until now, both Arsenal and Liverpool were said to be interested in signing Thomas Lemar but now the Reds looked to have pulled out of the race meaning Wenger is leading a one-horse race to sign the French International.
