Andy Carroll’s hopes of securing a move to Chelsea has been dealt with a huge blow after a scan on Thursday has shown that the West Ham United striker has an ankle injury.
Chelsea have shown an interest in signing up the former Liverpool man as Antonio Conte is out in the market searching for a striking partner to Alvaro Morata.
But now the move seems to be in muddy waters as the 29-year-old is expected to be out for four to six weeks.
West Ham though think that the injury might be more serious and could require a surgery – meaning that the striker will not be able to play for the next four months.
Injuries are the primary reason why the Hammers are planning to offload the player in the first place and now it seems another injury had halted his move out of the London stadium.
Chelsea at first were interested in taking up Carroll on loan but West Ham insisted that any sort of deal regarding the player has to be of a permanent nature.
Now with Andy Carroll sustaining an injury, it seems that his dream move to Stamford Bridge will collapse and Chelsea will have to look elsewhere.
