Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has revealed how Jose Mourinho changed his mindset by giving his a wonderful piece of advice.

Morata moved to London from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window at the back of a £60million deal and now the striker has revealed how his former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho put his professional career in the right direction after a bad training session at the Bernabeu.

Morata came up through the youth setup at Madrid and made his full team debut under then manager Jose Mourinho back in 2010.

While speaking about the impact that the current Manchester United manager had on his career, Morata said: “Mourinho treated us very well and cared for us, using a carrot and stick,”

“He gave me my first big contract at Madrid.

“He called me after a bad training session and said to me that if you start well (in your career) then you will never have to work again in your life… but right now you have to decide where you want to go, so work well.”

The Spaniard was supposed to join Manchester United during the summer transfer window but Jose Mourinho had a change of heart and signed Romelu Lukaku from Everton. This transfer meant that Chelsea had no other option but to sign Alvaro Morata.
