Manchester City have joined the race to sign Valencia’s highly Carlos Soler who is also a transfer target for Manchester United.

Soler has been one of the mainstay’s for Valencia this season and the midfielder is one of the biggest reasons why The Bats have been performing so exceptionally. But it seems that both the Manchester sides have shown a growing interest in the Spanish U-21 International.

According to a report by the Don Balon, Pep Guardiola has asked his board to sign the 21-year-old during the summer transfer window.

Guardiola feels that Soler will fit in seamlessly into his first eleven and wants to get his hands on the midfielder before City’s arch rivals sign him up.

Reports during the January transfer window had suggested that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was interested in signing Soler and might go after him during the summer.

United are set to lose Michael Carrick at the end of the season and it seems that Marouane Fellaini is also heading for the exit doors at Old Trafford. In such a scenario, Mourinho will be well short of midfield personnel for the next campaign and the €60 million-rated midfielder seems to be the perfect replacement.

Soler has made 16 appearances in the La Liga for Valencia this season. He is predominantly a right-sided midfielder but has the ability to play both in central midfield as well as on the left.
