Manchester City might be cruising in the Premier League and there are more or less certain to lift the trophy come to the end of the season. But manager Pep Guardiola has voiced some concerns claiming that it will be a struggle to hold onto some of his key players during the summer transfer window.
And one such player is Raheem Sterling.
Sterling moved to Manchester City in July of 2015 for an initial £44 million and since then the English International has gone onto make 131 appearances for the Cityzens scoring 41 goals.
This campaign the 23-year-old has made 37 appearances in all competitions and has managed to find the back of the net 20 times.
Raheem Sterling’s current contract with Manchester City expires in 2020 and when Pep Guardiola was asked if the club have started new contract talks with him, the manager said:
“No. In terms of contracts, I’m not the guy, it’s Txiki who’s talking about that.
“No doubts, it’s so important that we keep him.
“But you know the deals are the deals. The agents and many circumstances, maybe other clubs are interested in him.
“Anything can happen but he knows how important he is to us.”
Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez is planning a major overhaul at the Bernabeu in order to get their next season back on track and it is pretty evident that the Los Blancos will bring in a series of signings.
According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid are planning to make a move for Raheem Sterling during the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old’s current value as per Transfermarkt is €80 million but Real Madrid feel that City will not let Raheem Sterling leave for anything less than €120 million.
