Manchester City are planning to make a move for AS Monaco star Thomas Lemar during the summer transfer window – according to reports.

Lemar was on the verge of joining Arsenal before the start of the current season but the deal collapsed during the final few hours of deadline day. After that Liverpool came into the picture in the January transfer window after Philippe Coutinho left for Barcelona.

Coutinho’s transfer to the Catalans meant that Liverpool had pocketed a large amount of money in the form of transfer fees and AS Monaco are now planning to cash in.

As soon as Liverpool sold Coutinho, Monaco changed their stance and claimed that they would let Thomas Lemar leave but only if a club was willing to pay over 90 million pounds for the versatile forward.

Jurgen Klopp though has maintained that he will not rush to bring in a replacement to the Brazilian suggesting that any move for Lemar would be made during the summer only.

But now the Daily Telegraph are suggesting that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is also interested in Thomas Lemar.

City failed to sign both Alexis Sanchez and Riyad Mahrez during the January transfer window and it seems that Guardiola has pinpointed out Lemar as the next best alternative.

Liverpool too maintain substantial interest and are sure to battle it out with Manchester City for the forward’s signature but the Citizens are sure to have an upper hand in this deal given the good relationship between AS Monaco and Manchester City.
