Santi Cazorla has been a hero for Arsenal whose career is on the verge of oblivion. But Gunners manager Arsene Wenger refuses to believe that.

As per the Frenchman, Cazorla will start running again on Thursday and if everything goes according to plan then the Spaniard could well be eyeing a first team return in 2018.

Wenger said, “You speak about Santi, he is having his first run today. So that is quite positive,

“The flexibility of his ankle looks good, his mobility is good and now it’s back to getting back to full fitness without having any setbacks. So it’s very difficult to predict when he will be available again.

“But overall, I think it’s very difficult to set a time. Not before Christmas, that’s why I didn’t involve him in the Europa League, but overall I hope that after Christmas he will be available.

“But he has not played for over a year now. He’s had a few surgeries so you are always cautious to set a time or date, but overall, yes it looks positive.”

Cazorla has been sidelined from October of 2016 after he suffered an Achilles’ injury. And since then the 32-year-old has found it really hard to recover. There have also been various rumours that owing to the age of the player he might just have to hang up his boots before he gets another chance for Arsenal.

But now Wenger has come out and dismissed all those rumours.
