It is no hidden secret that Bayern Munich want to sign Alexis Sanchez. The German champions have been chasing the Arsenal man for quite some time now.

The Chilean recently refused to sign a new contract with his current club. And with 12 months left on his current one, it was more or less certain that the 28-year-old was going to join Bayern Munich.

But since then, the scenario has changed quite a bit. Sanchez has some enormous wage demands that Bayern are just not ready to meet. Add to that the high transfer fees that Arsenal are wanting for the player. And Bayern’s president went on record to say that they will just not spend such absurd amounts of money on a player who is not young.

Ever since these reports, the Bayern rumours had seemingly died down and Man City emerged as the new favourites to sign Alexis Sanchez. But now a statement made by Bayern boss, Carlo Ancelotti has made the transfer wide open again.

Ancelotti said that even though he perfectly understands the club’s rule of not spending such high amounts but it is ok to make an exception once in a while. He said that players like Alexis Sanchez are not available in the market every day, hence if he becomes available his club will be ready.

The comments will surely make things a bit uncomfortable for Pep Guardiola though. The City boss was pretty confident in signing the Chilean. But now with Ancelotti and possibly Bayern renewing their hopes on signing Sanchez, things might just get a bit more interesting.
