Manchester United and Chelsea might be lining up a January transfer window bit for Augsburg left-back Philipp Max – according to reports.

As per the Daily Star, Manchester United and Chelsea have sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old in action. Max has been in tremendous form this season and has featured in all the matches for Augsburg. And with both Premier League clubs facing serious left-back issues the interest in Philipp Max seems to be pretty real.

Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for a new left-back and for the longest time, Danny Rose was supposed to be the next big signing. But now it seems that Manchester United are looking at other viable options.

Chelsea also want to sign a left-back and have been linked with Juventus’ Alex Sandro with the Brazilian showing an inclination towards joining the Stamford Bridge outfit. But it seems that the Blues are a bit hesitant to make a move because they know that Juventus will demand a high asking price.

Manchester United have also been linked with Alex Sandro during the past couple of weeks but Mourinho will also think twice before spending absurd amounts of money on a left-back. Hence in such a scenario, a move for a relatively less expensive Philipp Max seems to be the right move.
