Last week Jose Mourinho claimed that he needed one more attacking player who could play from the wide areas and everyone immediately understood that United were likely to sign atleast one more player before the transfer window closed down. But within days of this statement being made, news broke out that Ivan Perisic – United’s long term attacking target was all set to snub Mourinho. And immediately everyone’s focus shifted to Gareth Bale.

United have shown a keen interest in the Welshman during the early parts of the transfer window. But they slowly backed off after Florentino Perez demanded the services of David De Gea in return of the Welshman. But now things are a lot different from what they were a few months back. David De Gea has committed his future to Manchester United while Real Madrid has shown their faith and trust on their current goalkeeper. So now Mourinho sees no harming in trying and sign the player once again.

And true to the news, Jose Mourinho has made his intentions pretty clear about signing the Welsh International and he has also vowed to fight other coaches in order to get the services of Gareth Bale.

Mourinho said, “Well if he’s playing tomorrow, no I wouldn’t think of that, it’s because he’s in the coach’s plans and the club’s plans, because he also has that motivation to continue at RM.

“So I haven’t even thought about the possibility.

“If he is not in the club’s plans, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out, I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that would want him on their team.

“But if he plays tomorrow, that is the best confirmation that he is wanted by the team.”

From the statements of Mourinho, it is quite evident that Real Madrid might just be interested in signing Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco and tomorrow’s Super Cup game would be a final proof of that. If Gareth Bale is selected in the first eleven then there is no chance that he is leaving the club but if he is benched then Mbappe is hopefully wearing the white of Madrid from the next season. This final bit of news though will come as a bit of a shocker for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City who have been tracking Mbappe along with Real Madrid.
