Football is something that unites everyone, irrespective of what caste, race or religion you belong to. And that is what both the teams from Manchester will try and do during their pre-season derby on the 20th of July 2017.

Both Manchester United and Manchester City will wear the symbolic working bee on their shirts as a mark of respect to all those innocent people who lost their lives in the Manchester bombing during May.

The working bee has been a symbol of the industrial heritage of Manchester since the Victorian era and it was adopted into the city’s coat of arms in1842.

Both the clubs will wear this symbolic bee on their shirts during the first ever Manchester Derby which is set to be played outside of the United Kingdom.

The presence of the bee on both shirts follows the launch of #ACITYUNITED as the Blue and Red halves of Manchester came together to pledge a £1 million joint donation to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. The money from the fund will help the families of the 22 people who died in the atrocity and the 64 people who were injured.

And with such a noble cause in mind, Twitter has also decided to do its bit in order to support the cause. The social platform has released a new worker bee emoji for all the fans and supporters to use.

If a fan wishes to use the emoji, all he/she has to do is use the hashtags #ACityUnited or #ManchesterDerby and the bee emblem will appear automatically. All the shirts worn by the players during the match will be up for sale via an auction and all the proceeds from the sales will go to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.
