Manchester United transfer rumors: Mourinho to move for both Zlatan and Griezmann?

Manchester United are one of World Football’s most valuable club, and rightly so. “We can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of”, said Ed Woodward in 2014; just after taking over from David Gill as CEO of Manchester United.

If their latest transfer forays are anything to go by, then that statement hits the nail on its head. Already home to two of the most expensive signings in the likes of Pogba and Lukaku; Manchester United will look to strengthen both financially and in terms of the best players.

Antoine Griezmann is a player who has been linked with the club in almost every transfer window thus far. The tom-and-jerry chase of sorts has pushed United fans into wondering if Griezmann will be the next #7 or will he be another Wesley Sneijder?

His public TV appearance did, to a certain extent, confirm the players desire to play for Manchester United; and many state Atleti’s transfer ban as the main reason for his deal not materializing this window.

It now seems just a matter of time before Griezmann dons the coveted #7 jersey that has been haplessly left for a perfect suitor. That could come as soon as January, as previous reports suggest that Mourinho was keen to sign the Frenchman in the January transfer window but it didn’t materialize.

Another ferocious striker raring to go is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Manchester United’s talisman last season. His absence in the business end of last season hurt Manchester United’s push for a higher league position, as his injury against Anderlecht meant he would miss 10 months of competitive football.

But as Zlatan proudly proclaims that lions shouldn’t be compared to humans; his speedy recovery justifies that statement. He was Jose’s ‘go-to-man’ for most of last season, a job he did brilliantly.

There is no double-guessing on whether or not Mourinho would sign him again. Given his work-ethic and love for the game, Zlatan has proven to Mourinho again that he is unlike any other. His speedy recovery could mean another Manchester United contract in January. While Zlatan did give his beloved #9 to Lukaku, another legendary number is there for the taking after Wayne Rooney’s departure to Everton.

So, can we expect to see Manchester United looking loaded in attack, come January? Let’s wait and watch.
