AS Roma are set to take on Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday and before the game, the Italian side showed their class.

AS Roma decided to honour the 96 people who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy in 1989.

Roma captain laid a wreath at the Hillsborough memorial on behalf of the AS Roma squad and this gesture has been met with appreciation from all corners.

The Hillsborough disaster was a human crush at Hillsborough football stadium in Sheffield, England on 15 April 1989, during the 1988–89 FA Cup semi-final game between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

During this fatal day, 96 people lost their lives and 766 others were injured due to the overcrowding in central pens of stand which were allocated for the Liverpool fans.

Here are some reactions to AS Roma’s tribute for the victims.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has praised Roma captain De Rossi ahead of the Champions League tie and said: “Fantastic player and a fantastic leader for many years for Roma,

“He’s a huge player and someone who has been around for a long time. He will be used to it, this sort of size of a game. He will be looking forward to it.

“But I feel we’ve got experience in our side, too, maybe not as much as him, but I feel we are ready to go and challenge.”

Liverpool will take on AS Roma at Anfield on Tuesday while Bayern Munich and Real Madrid go head to head against each other in the second semi-final on Wednesday.

Roma are flying high after knocking out Barcelona in the previous round while Liverpool beat recently crowned Premier League champions Manchester City.

This match will also be a special occasion for Premier League POTY winner Mo Salah who will face AS Roma for the first time since moving to Liverpool last summer.
