Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is in pole position to become the new Rangers FC boss during the summer.
Rangers are being currently managed by Graeme Murty who took over when the club sacked Pedro Caixinha last October.
But with Murty scheduled to step down from his position at the end of the season, reports from England are claiming that the ex-Liverpool midfielder is the likeliest person to take up the job.
Gerrard is currently a youth coach at Liverpool but it seems that the Englishman is interested in the prospect of his first senior managerial job.
Current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also backed Steven Gerrard for the role of the next Rangers manager.
Jurgen Klopp said: “He[Gerrard] was, is and forever will be a Liverpool legend. But whatever he wants to do, we will support him,
“I don’t even know what the situation is at the moment – no one has told me any decision.
“Clubs are interested in signing Stevie. He had a massive amount of experience as a player – I think I would talk to him as well if I owned a club.
“One day it will happen, either here or somewhere else. But it’s his decision. We will support him in all directions.”
The German manager also jokingly added he and the club will support Gerrard’s decision as long as he is not going to Everton or Manchester United.
“The relationship is brilliant. I’d have loved to work with him as a player, but was a little late for that,” Jurgen Klopp added.
“But from the first moment, we have developed brilliantly. As a Liverpool coach in the youth system, you have a good bunch of players to work with – you don’t have to necessarily tell them everything about football.
“If he thinks he’s ready, he’s ready. That’s a big if, but we will be happy and support him.
“So long as he’s not the Everton or Manchester United manager, we will support him and answer his questions!”
