After months of speculations and debates, the Gunners management have finally announced Unai Emery as the new Arsenal manager.

Emery, 46 will take charge of Arsenal football club as soon as the formalities are complete and the former PSG boss will now have the big task of bringing back the glory days for the London outfit.

A couple of weeks ago, Arsene Wenger had announced that he would be stepping down from his position at the end of the season and for the longest time, it was being believed that Mikel Arteta would become the new Arsenal manager.

But it seems that the Gunners hierarchy had a change of heart at the final minute and they decided to go for Unai Emery as their new Arsenal manager.

Before the Spaniard takes charge of the London outfit here are some facts that you should know about him:

  1. Unai Emery stepped down from his position as the head coach of PSG at the end of the 2017-18 after winning a domestic double with the Ligue 1 outfit.
  2. Emery’s first managerial job was back in 2005 when he took the reigns of Spanish side Lorca Deportiva.
  3. The 46-year-old’s first big break came in 2008 when he became the manager of Valencia and during his four-year stay with the club, the Spanish coach managed 220 games for the Bats.
  4. His next major success once again came in the La Liga, this time with Sevilla where he managed to win 51.7 percent of his games during the three-year stay.
  5. Unai Emery took charge of PSG in June 2016 signing a two-year deal, with the option of a third, to succeed former manager Laurent Blanch.
  6. The 46-year-old became the first ever Spanish manager to win the Ligue 1 in 2017-18.
  7. The new Arsenal manager managed 114 games for PSG and has a win percentage of 76.3.
  8. Unai Emery has three Europa League titles to his name having won the competition in 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.
  9. Arsenal will be the seventh club that Unai Emery will take charge of in his managerial career and also the first EPL side.
  10. The new Arsenal manager has also managed to win a major competition in each of his last five seasons.

Amongst the possible candidates, Unai Emery is easily one of the better choices that management could have made as the new Arsenal manager and certainly he is leaps and bounds ahead of Mikel Arteta.
