The UEFA Champions League final is scheduled to be held in the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv – the capital of Ukraine and the Ukranian government is making sure to close up all loose ends before the big night.

The Ukranian police have decided to increase the level of security in the national capital from May 21st up until the UEFA Champions League final as terror threat looms large over the high profile event.

Chief of the National Police Serhiy Kniazev said (as quoted the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA): “From today and until the end of the events, we have an increased level of terrorist threat.

“Bomb disposal technicians in all regions must promptly and timely transmit information if any suspicious items are found,”

“A total of 26 air checkpoints and those of 51 highways and 53 railway routes will be involved.

“About 1,000 border guards and 100 service dogs will be employed at the checkpoints. Some 11,000 fans will arrive at Boryspil International Airport.

“About 15,000 people are expected to arrive by car,”

The UEFA Champions League final is to be played between Real Madrid and Liverpool on Saturday 26 May, kicking off at 20:45CET (21:45 local time).
