Rangers FC travel to Slovenia in order to take on Maribor in the second leg of the Europa League qualifiers and the Gers stand favourites to come out on top.

The Light Blues won the first leg 3-1 and not too many people are putting their money on Maribor to pull off an upset.

Rangers FC Team News:

Steven Gerrard will have mixed emotions while choosing his first eleven who will take the field in Slovenia as on one hand, he has a number of players who have been deemed fit before the match while another area of the pitch will require some serious patchwork.

The manager confirmed on Tuesday that the trio of Ryan Jack, Lassana Coulibaly and Scott Arfield are all fit to travel with the squad and will hopefully feature in the first team line-up.

Amongst the three Arfield and Jack are more or less guaranteed to start the game while Coulibaly’s selection will be made right before the game. But we feel that the summer arrival too will feature against Maribor.

Now that the good news is done let us move to the bad ones.

While the midfield and attacking areas are sorted, Steven Gerrard has a bit of an issue in regards to his defensive line-up.

New signings Borna Barisic is not available for selection because of being cup-tied while Jon Flanagan is suspended for the game meaning that the manager will have to use a makeshift defender for the Maribor clash or else go with a back three and play two wing-backs.

But we feel that the manager will not try and risk the game with a back three and will hopefully play midfielder Andy Halliday in the left-back position.

The other three men(Goldson, Katic and Tavernier) in defensive will remain the same alongside goalkeeper McGregor.

Rangers’ possible line-up vs Maribor:

Goalkeeper: McGregor.

Defence: Halliday, Goldson, Katic, Tavenier.

Midfield: Ryan Jack, Coulibaly, Scott Arfield.

Attack: Ryan Kent, Candeias, Morelos.
