Kyle Lafferty
Kyle Lafferty to Rangers

Rangers FC beat Ayr United 4-0 in the quarter-finals of the Betfred Cup and they will now take on Aberdeen in the semi-finals sometime next month.

While the Light Blues did not have any sort of trouble winning the match but those 90 minutes against Ayr has surely given Steven Gerrard some big headaches for the semi-final.

Rangers saw goals from Glenn Middleton, Nikola Katic and Alfredo Morelos but what many fans have overlooked is the fact that Morelos also happened to receive a yellow card.

This yellow card means the Colombian will remain suspended for the Aberdeen vs Rangers semi-final and that is some serious cause of concern for the Light Blues manager.

Kyle Lafferty too will be unavailable for that game due to being cup-tied meaning the Gerrard will only have Umar Sadiq at his disposal.

Up until now in the current season, Steven Gerrard has either relied on Alfredo Morelos or Kyle Lafferty to be his premier front man but now it seems the manager will have to put his faith on young Umar Sadiq to come up with the good during the Aberdeen vs Rangers clash.

While Umar Sadiq does possess talent but the AS Roma loanee is in no ways a regular under Gerrard and he is way short of game time.

And Steven Gerrard has made it clear that the youngster will have to improve a lot if he wishes to see regular game time at Rangers this season.

Sadiq was expected to play during the quarter-final vs Ayr United but there too Steven Gerrard chose to go with Alfredo Morelos as his lone striker.
