They cite La Repubblica saying: “Chelsea have added Marcos Alonso to their initials offer of €60 million for Inter’s Achraf Hakimi, according to reports.
“This according to the online edition of La Repubblica who report that the Premier League club have submitted an offer for the Moroccan which includes not only the €60 million from their initial offer but would also see the Spaniard go the other way.
“Inter are thought to be demanding a minimum of €70 million for the 22-year-old, with offers from Chelsea and PSG prior to day having gone no higher than €60 million, an amount which would not persuade the Nerazzurri to sell.”
Will Chelsea be able to sign Achraf Hakimi before PSG?
Up until now, PSG were said to be the favourites to land Achraf Hakimi this summer but now this offer from Chelsea is sure to make the Inter management sit up and take notice.
Marcos Alonso is a player who has been linked with Inter Milan in the past few months and if the Blues are seriously offering him services then the Italian side could very well let Hakimi go the other way.
The 22-year-old has four more years left on his current deal so Inter can afford to hold onto him and ask for an inflated price. But it’s an open secret that they need money to balance the books.
Ideally, the Italian side will not want to sell Achraf Hakimi as he was signed just a year ago but the financial difficulties mean Inter have to part ways with one or two of their biggest stars.
It will be interesting to see how PSG respond to this cash-plus-player bid from Chelsea. Will they back out or will the Parisian offer even more money?
