Adam Lallana could get a new lease of life at Anfield next season if the words of Jurgen Klopp are to be believed.

The attacking midfielder joined Liverpool in 2014 from Southampton for a reported transfer fee of €31 million. But he has not quite been able to live up to his price tag.

Last season, Adam Lallana managed to play in just 13 Premier League games for the Reds and many pundits had predicted that Klopp could try and offload him this summer given that he has one more year remaining on his current deal.

But the German manager has chosen to do things a bit differently as Adam Lallana has been deployed in a deeper midfield role during the first two warm-up games that Liverpool have played this summer.

And Jurgen Klopp has also gone onto to add that Adam Lallana could very well play as the famed Jorginho role for the Reds next season.

Klopp said after the victory at Bradford: “Adam is the kind of player who can play that and he enjoys this ‘Jorginho’ role – I hope Maurizio Sarri doesn’t see the games or he will make an offer.

“It is about getting Adam rhythm, bringing him in early and doing things he is naturally good at: small spaces, passing the ball, and then from time-to-time offering the runs in behind as well and together with Milly (James Milner) that is possible.

“For us, it is another option.

“He needs a bit of luck like we all do in life. We have to come through without injuries, that would be cool, and then we have a couple of new players, I would say, this season.”

Jorginho had been famous in Italy for controlling the game from a deep-lying midfield role but his tactics have not really worked in the English Premier League.

The former Napoli man has been bullied off the ball and last season he had struggled to find his feet at Chelsea.

But Adam Lallana though could very much succeed in the same role given that he is well equipped to handle the physicality that the English game has to offer.
