Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly close to signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot from right under the noses of fellow Premier League rivals, Arsenal FC.

The Gunners tried to sign the player last summer as a free agent but Rabiot eventually chose to make a move to Juventus. But his time in Italy has not been a particularly happy one since so far he’s featured in only 17 Serie A matches for the Old Lady.

And as per rumours, the midfielder is planning to head out of Turin in the summer and it seems like the English Premier League could be his next destination.

According to a report in FootMercato, Carlo Ancelotti has already held talks with the 25-year-old in an attempt to lure him to Goodison Park.

The report claims: “Adrien Rabiot, however, still wants to leave, with Manchester United and Everton (he even spoke with Carlo Ancelotti) as main contenders, but his wishes for his future have nothing to do with this case.

“Finally, Véronique Rabiot also asked Juventus to publish a press release to clarify the situation, which the Italians have still not done, and which has the gift of annoying the mother of the midfielder of 25 years. A departure this summer is therefore quite likely, even if the player who passed through Manchester City and Toulouse earlier in his career would also not be bothered by the idea of staying an additional year.”

Can Carlo Ancelotti lure in Adrien Rabiot to Everton?

Carlo Ancelotti is still one of the most famous and recognizable managers in Europe and a lot of players would do anything to play under him.

And this is exactly what Everton are banking upon as they plan to swoop him away from right under Arsenal’s nose.

The transfer is still a fair bit away from completion but by the looks of it, Everton and not Arsenal are the club more interested in bringing Adrien Rabiot on board for the new season.

Rabiot currently earns £120,000-a-week at Juve which should not be a problem for either of the two Premier League clubs but before Arsenal can plan to make a move for the 25-year-old, Arteta will have to clear up some locker room space since the manager has a number of unwanted midfielders at his disposal.
