Alex Iwobi was a key figure for Arsenal during the 2018-19 season but his role could diminish this upcoming campaign.

Last season, Alex Iwobi played in 35 Premier League games – scoring 3 and assisting 7 goals and it was pretty evident that Unai Emery has a lot of faith in the 23-year-old.

But recently, the Gunners have been linked with the likes of Yannick Carrasco and Wilfried Zaha, both of whom play in the same position as Iwobi.

And this has prompted a number of people to believe that the Nigerian could try and move out of the Emirates this summer.

Right now he is playing in the AFCON and it was here that Alex Iwobi told Goal that he has no intentions of moving out of Arsenal this year and wants to maybe play a different role during the upcoming campaign.

‘I don’t have any idea of going anywhere else, I’m an Arsenal player,’ Iwobi told Goal(as reported by Metro)

‘For a big club like Arsenal, you mentioned two great players so it will be exciting to have them. ‘I don’t know anything that’s going on behind closed doors.

‘I was involved quite a lot last season,

‘Obviously, you want to start as many games as you can but it doesn’t work that way when you have a team like Arsenal, you just have to do well and whenever the opportunity comes, do your best.

‘I just have to say thank you for the opportunity he is giving me.

‘I’m happy to play anywhere [for Arsenal], I’ll play wherever I’m told to play.

‘I’ve always seen myself as a midfielder, like an attacking midfielder but I’ll always give my best whether I’m told to play in the middle or somewhere else.’
