Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Steven Gerrard was brought in by Rangers FC last summer in order to crush the dominance of Celtic in the Scottish footballing scene.

And while the former Liverpool man has not quite achieved it, but last season was a great positive for the Gers.

Yes, the Bhoys managed a domestic treble along with a really comfortable win in the Premiership but Neil Lennon knows there is a lot to worry about.

Steven Gerrard has managed to build a really solid base last season and this summer he is busy fine-tuning all the troubled areas.

While the work that Steven Gerrard has done on the pitch has been lauded by everyone but his former England teammate John Terry has shed light on another aspect which many people might have failed to notice.

According to Terry, one of the key things that the Rangers boss has done is bring the Teddy Bears back on the United Kingdom football news.

John Terry said(via Football Scotland): “Stevie will be desperate for silverware. He’s been used to winning things in his career so that will be his target for Rangers.

“He’ll want to win a trophy for such a huge club and then the fans will really warm to him.

“I can see in the group they’ve got there’s real quality there and they’re closing the gap on Celtic.

“That was a big job in itself but I think he did that last year. And what Stevie’s done for me is make people down south talk about Rangers again.

“For the last few years, everyone has been speaking about Celtic.

“But Stevie has brought that glamour back to the club again, which I think it deserves. You can see the balance of power shifting. Celtic are still a top side and the points difference at the top of the league showed that.

“But what Rangers did last season and from the games I watched, the gap has been closed for sure.

“It’ll be really interesting now to see what happens this year. Knowing Stevie, he’ll feel he’s got unfinished business there and he’ll want to get it right this season.”
