Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 at the Emirates on Sunday to make it 12 points out of the first six games of the new Premier League season.
The Gunners saw goals from Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in quick succession right before the hour mark but the match was not as rosy as the scoreline would suggest.
Arsenal could easily have been a couple of goals down in the first half had it not been for the heroics of Petr Cech who stood tall and justified his selection over Bernd Leno once again.
The London outfit broke the deadlock courtesy of Alexandre Lacazette in the 56th minute with Aubameyang adding the second three minutes later.
The Gabon international was substituted ten minutes later while Lacazette went on to play the full 90 minutes but Unai Emery has now revealed that he intended to take off Lacazette while Aubameyang was supposed to stay on the pitch.
The Arsenal manager was asked if he was planning to substitute Alexandre Lacazette right before he scored the goal to which he answered:

‘It’s not important, but yes,
‘At that point we needed a change to stop their attacking moments but then we scored and I decided to think again.’
While the Arsenal fans are very happy with their team’s performance during the Everton match but they might be a slight disheartened to find out that Unai Emery was planning to take off Alexandre Lacazette and introduce a more defensive minded player onto the pitch.
Arsenal take on Brentford in the League Cup in midweek where a number of the first team players will be given an adequate rest so that they remain fresh for the club’s next Premier League which is against the high flying Watford.
