The 2018-19 season of the Premier League is finally starting to take shape and the top contenders for the title are slowly starting to peel away from the rest of the pack.

Liverpool currently still on top of the table winning each and every game of the new season followed by Manchester City who are two points behind the league leaders.

Manchester United are languishing seventh on the table with three wins out of their past six matches while Watford have maintained their top four spot with 13 points.

And now the question of who is the best player in the Premier League right now is starting to crop up.

Two football pundits – Michael Owen and Chris Sutton were asked this same question as to who is the best player in the Premier League up until now.

While most of the fans would have chosen a simple answer like Sadio Mane or Eden Hazard both of who have made such fine starts to the new season, but Owen and Sutton had two very unusual choices.

Micheal Owen on who is the best player in the Premier League:

In answer to this question the former Liverpool man said:

“It has to be Harry Kane. Who else is there?”

The Spurs hitman has certainly overcome his August voodoo but so far he has not done anything noteworthy which could give him the label of the best player during the first couple of weeks.

But we guess Micheal Owen has also decided to take into account the recently concluded World Cup in Russia where Harry Kane captained England and came up with some fine individual performances.

Chris Sutton on who is the best player in the Premier League:

Sutton like Micheal Owen also chose to go the unconventional way by choosing Liverpool midfielder James Milner.

“James Milner!

“We’re talking about here and now… James Milner.”

Sutton’s response to who is the best player in the Premier League was based purely on the current season but still, he chose to avoid the likes of Mane who have has been getting all the goals for Liverpool.

Based on pure statistics and the fact that goals win games, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard would win the race of who is the best player in the Premier League given that the Belgium International has so far scored five goals out of the 14 that the Blues have netted.
