Alfredo Morelos has been tipped to move out of Rangers this summer and now it looks like West Ham United too have joined the race to sign the forward.

The Colombian has always expressed his desire to play in the English Premier League and now it looks like Manuel Pellegrini could be plotting a move for the striker in the coming few days.

Hammers News are claiming that West Ham United can now sign Alfredo Morelos for as low as £4 million.

The report states: “West Ham have been linked with Alfredo Morelos this week. According to The Daily Record, Crystal Palace and West Ham have both shown a ‘tentative interest’ in Morelos.

“This report has been backed up by reliable West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee. Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Wednesday 17th July), EXWHUEmployee told listeners that Morelos might be available for a bargain fee.

“The Rangers striker is reportedly available for as little as £4m or £5m this summer. At this price, West Ham might try to sign the Colombia international as a back-up choice to Sebastien Haller.”

While this report might excite a fair number of Hammers fans but there is no way that Steven Gerrard will let Alfredo Morelos leave for such a low transfer price.

Gerrard has already made it clear that he will not let the striker leave if he does not have enough time to bring in a replacement.

“As a club, we haven’t got a decision to make because a bid hasn’t come in. Will it? Possibly,” the Rangers boss had said earlier this month.

“However, if it does happen, it won’t happen late. If someone wants to spend a lot of money on a centre forward and they want to take my centre forward, they’d have to come early.

“If he did end up going, he would be impossible to replace with only days or weeks remaining in the window. We don’t want him to go, we don’t want to sell him. But we all know every player has a price and I’m not going to sit here and say he’s not going out the door.

“If a bid lands that the board like and they want to accept, it’s a completely different conversation, but that hasn’t happened. The chairman is on the same page as me. We don’t have to sell and don’t want to sell.

“We understand that if a crazy bid lands on the table, you have to treat it seriously. But, if teams plan to wait until the last week of the window, they’re wasting their time.”

Most pundits have estimated that Alfredo Morelos is carrying a transfer tag of around £20 million so West Ham United shouldn’t really be getting their hopes up with this one.
