Rafa Benitez is planning to strengthen his Newcastle United attack for the 2019-20 and if reports are to be believed then the manager wants to sign Alfredo Morelos.

Alfredo Morelos joined Rangers from Helsinki back in 2017 and since then, the Colombian has virtually netted goals for fun.

During the 2018-19 season, the 22-year-old scored 30 goals and made 11 assists in just 48 appearances for Rangers and that tally could have been even more had he had picked up so many yellow cards.

And now reports are claiming that Newcastle United are planning to launch a bid for Alfredo Morelos during the summer transfer window.

Morelos has always said that he wishes to play in the Premier League as that is his ultimate dream and there is a huge chance that this wish will come true next season.

Steven Gerrard always knew that it will be really tough for him to hold on to his first choice striker especially after such a fine season and many reports claim that the manager is more than ready to sell him off.

If only, someone offers him the right transfer price.

And keeping in line with this news, it is being reported that Newcastle United are ready to offer somewhere around £20million for Alfredo Morelos.

This is certainly a huge amount of money given that the Gers paid around 1 million pounds for the Colombian two years ago.

Some experts though claim that Gerrard should play the waiting game given that a host of top European clubs have shown an interest in signing Alfredo Morelos.

The likes of Lyon, Leicester City and Marseille have all been linked with the 22-year-old which will surely help the Gers to get the maximum transfer price out of Morelos’ sale.

But one thing that might work in favour of the Magpies is that Rafa and Gerrard share a great relationship having known each other from their Liverpool days and this might eventually help Newcastle United jump the queue and sign Alfredo Morelos.
