Chelsea beat Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League final and according to Pat Nevin, this loss could cause a series of problems for the Gunners.

The Blues breezed past the Gunners especially during the second half as Eden Hazard put up a magical display during his final game for Chelsea.

And now that Arsenal have failed to get back into the Champions League, Unai Emery will only get around £45million to spend during the summer transfer window – which is without a doubt not enough to bring in star players especially if the Gunners with to fight against the likes of Man City and Liverpool.

And according to Pat Nevin, this Europa League loss vs Chelsea has caused such damage that Emery might need more than one season to recover it.

“It could be a dangerous thing. This game was massive for a number of reasons,” Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport(as reported).

“If they’d have won they’ve have got into the Champions League and think of the money you get from being in that next season.

“Think of the extra kudos of being able to bring in other players who won’t come in for a Europa League season.

“You had a 90 minutes that was massively important that might affect the team for 12 months, maybe 18 to 24 months going forward. That’s hard to deal with, hard to take.

“You know that Manchester City are going to strengthen, that Tottenham are going to strengthen, Liverpool will probably strengthen a bit as well.

“We’re talking about getting that big player in but there’s not many of them around and if they’ve got the choices, they’re going to the big teams with Champions League football.

“They must’ve thought [when they first missed out on the Champions League], ‘Well this is a team that a little blip and we’ll be back.’ But it’s beginning to look more than a little blip.”
