Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata spent the second half of the previous season out on loan to Atletico Madrid and now it looks like he is going to stay there.

The Blues brought in Morata from Real Madrid for €66 million but the striker has turned out to be one of the biggest flops at the club.

During the first half of the 2018-19 season, the striker featured in only 16 Premier League games playing for just 943 minutes.

So in January, Maurizio Sarri sent him out on loan to Atletico Madrid and Chelsea now have told the club that they can sign him for a fee of around £50 million.

The Telegraph are reporting, Atletico Madrid are lining up a bid to sign Alvaro Morata permanently after being warned they may have to send the striker back to Chelsea if they don’t.

“As reported by Telegraph Sport last week, Chelsea handed Atletico an ultimatum to either sign Morata for around £50million this summer or face the threat of the Blues triggering the recall clause that was placed in his 18-month loan deal.”

Atletico Madrid are keen to keep Alvaro Morata on board but recently they have spent around £113 million on Joao Felix and some experts are claiming that eventually the La Liga outfit might eventually decide against the purchase and send the striker back.

If this happens then it could be a serious problem for Alvaro Morata since Frank Lampard has made it clear that he is ready to give youth a chance at Chelsea next season.

And this means that the likes of Tammy Abraham will come into the forefront.

Frank Lampard already has the likes of Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi amongst his ranks which means that if Alvaro Morata returns back to Stamford Bridge he could very well be warming the benches next campaign.

So right now, the future of Alvaro Morata totally depends on Atletico Madrid and how quickly can they make a move to make his loan deal permanent.

The La Liga side are on the process of selling Antonine Griezmann to Barcelona and some experts have claimed that as soon as the Frenchman heads to Camp Nou, Atletico Madrid will use that money to buy Alvaro Morata.
